Welcome
The goal of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology is to achieve excellence in all areas of academic endeavor, encompassing patient care, research, and medical education. The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at the University of Miami School of Medicine consists of four full-time board certified pediatric nephrologists. In addition, the division has three clinical and research fellows in training at any given time, plus one clinical/research nurse liaison. Dr. José Strauss, emeritus professor, also remains active in the organization of the annual division's Pediatric Nephrology Seminar. The year 2001 was characterized by continued success in both clinical and academic pursuits. The number of patients entering the End Stage Renal Disease program has continued to increase. A record number of renal transplants, as well as multi-visceral organ transplants, were performed. In addition, the division was successful in its academic activities, including obtaining significant grant funding, publishing a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at many regional, national, and international conferences. Our division faculty are invited for guest lectureships throughout the world. The division also continues to attract the highest quality of pediatricians into our fellowship training program. |
